Todd Vance and P.O.W.
A martial-arts program Vance has run for veterans since 2012, alongside the safety job.
Todd Vance, an Army squad leader who has described more than 250 combat missions in Iraq, founded P.O.W. — Pugilistic Offensive Warrior Tactics — in 2012. The program uses martial-arts training, and the company says it includes mental-health support, for veterans dealing with post-traumatic stress. Vance has said the point is to be present, not only to train.
Chief Administrative Officer Ben Garcia, a Marine Recon veteran, has trained in the program and has said the company stands behind it. The company reports that P.O.W. has reached hundreds of veterans. The program site is powsd.org.
